"ACE WONDER" GETS SNEAK PREVIEW

The San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival, which kicked off yesterday in the Alamo City, will be hosting an exclusive, pre-release screening of the highly-anticipated new film, 'Ace Wonder: Message from a Dead Man', tonight at 7:30 at San Antonio's Municipal Auditorium. The film is the latest project of HeuMoore Productions, whose last film, 'The Widow's Might' won the $101,000 Grand Prize, as well as the Audience Choice Award, at the 2009 festival.

"We're pleased to be featuring a sneak preview of 'Ace Wonder' to our audience tonight," stated Doug Phillips, founder of the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. "It's a joy to see the filmmakers who we honored last year with our Best of Festival Award go right back to work and reach for greater heights with this impressive new film."

'Ace Wonder' follows the adventure of a boy detective who is struggling to find a storyline for his latest novel. When his path tangles with Derek Morton, a simple family mystery becomes a very real case of corporate espionage, scientific discovery, and one coldblooded killer.

'Ace Wonder' is one of more than fifty films showing on four screens as part of the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival, which runs October 28-30 in the Alamo City. The film screenings and special entertainment are being held in downtown San Antonio at the Gonzalez Convention Center and the Municipal Auditorium

At the festival's annual Jubilee Awards, which closes out the event on Saturday, awards will be given in several categories, including 'Best Dramatic Short', 'Best Documentary', 'Best Feature Film', along with their $101,000 'Best of Festival' Award, which is the largest single cash prize given by any film festival in America.

EDITOR SEEKING ARTICLES

The ministry of CBN.com continues to grow, and we are finding that from time-to-time we have projects that require the help of others. We are looking for volunteers to help with two such projects in the coming days.

Article Needed:
First, we have received a request from our CBN youth site, http://www.1cubed.com/, for a specialized article to answer the question of a reader/viewer. Here is the information from our producer:

This is one of the many emails that we received from our viewers. They all have the same theme. They have struggled with porn and/or sex and now struggle with masturbation and want help or advice.

"I was fornicating in the past and realized it was of no used. After sex i feel like now I shouldnt have because I never get satisfied. So i said to myself I'll try working worked hard to forgo sex, I've been successful for the past 2 yrs but unfortunately, I've found myself into something else which is also bad. My mind keeps telling me it\'s not as bad as sex before marriage. I really want to stop this new habit of MASTURBATION. Pls help me."

We are looking for an article, roughly 500-900 words, on the subject of masturbation from a biblical perspective. The audience demographic is 15-28 yrs old roughly. All of the emails have been from males.

At this point, just one good solid article would be a huge help. If the writer feels there needs to be a few different perspectives on the subject, any amount of articles are fine.

Please contact me at Craig.vonBuseck@cbn.org if you are interested in writing this article. We will provide links back to your website, and to your latest book or ministry product.

Devotional Topics:

We are also in the midst of organizing our extensive devotional section into topics to make it easier for users to find the content they are seeking (we will also continue to categorize the devotions according to authors). We have asked our devotional writers to categorize their devotions for us. The problem is that some of our writers have changed their e-mail addresses and we have lost touch with them. We need a few volunteers to help us categorize the devotions of these long-lost writers.

This task will require you to read through a list of devotions that we send you and then match each one with one or two of the topics that will be on a list that we will supply.

Also, if you have written devotions for CBN.com and we have not contacted you, please let us know so we can send you the list of topics.

And if you are interested in possibly writing new devotions, please let me know and we will send you our submission guidelines.

Thank you for your willingness to help in the ministry of CBN.com. I pray that the Lord will richly bless you as you continue to seek Him.

UPDATE ON WRITING FOR STANDARD

Here is some updated information on WordAction (Nazarene) SS take-home, Standard. This spring I announced they would no longer accept unsolicited manuscripts. Now Editor Duane Brush explains:

Each year Standard will contract with authors for approximately 32 manuscripts for one or more lead story/articles. The manuscripts will be 800-850 words long and fiction, true story, or based on true store, human interest, or feature piece. They’ll continue to want “Christianity in action.”

The articles will be assigned as “work for hire” within the meaning of Section 101 of copyright law. That means the publisher will own all rights. Payment will be $50 per assignment.

Those wishing to be considered for a Standard writing contract will need to submit a personal information sheet (available by Email, Standard@WordAction.com) along with a writing sample. They will contact authors with a contract invitation.

I'M BACK IN THE OFFICE

Sorry for my silence the last week. I was teaching at the Maranatha Christian Writers Conference in Muskegon, Michigan. It was a great conference, and I see it as one of the emerging conferences for Christian writers. With about 100 participants this year, it continues to grow each year. Jerry Jenkins was the keynote speaker this year. Those living in that area will definitely want to check it out for next year when Robin Jones Gunn will be keynoting.
