Carole Lewis, best-selling author and national director of the First Place 4 Health Scripture-based weight loss program, accepted the 2013 Golden Scroll Lifetime Achievement Award presented at the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association’s 13th annual Golden Scroll Awards Banquet. Held Sunday, June 23, the event saw about 100 members of the group in attendance at the Ramada Plaza in Saint Louis. First Place 4 Health began in 1981 as a ministry of Houston’s First Baptist Church and took the nation by storm with its reliable, proven method of weight loss and healthy living. Since then, it has had groups in over 12,000 churches across the country with over a half million members nationwide. First Place 4 Health offers a series of Bible Studies that address many issues of everyday life and provide opportunities for growth in Christ. Members of the Bible Studies combine prayer and Scripture to help impart God's strength as members learn to overcome temptation and make long-lasting lifestyle changes.
