CONTEST FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Budding writers 10 to 14 years old can win cash this summer for writing modern-day Jonah stories. Youth are being asked to write wail tales, or exaggerated tales of woe sharing the importance of obedience to God.

"I call them wail tales because the character lands in a whale of trouble for doing the wrong thing," says Cheryl Rogers, publisher of New Christian Books Online Magazine and author of Just Like Jonah Wail Tales, a short story collection aimed at preteen and teens.

The magazine is holding the contest in conjunction with the John 3:16 Marketing Network, a group of Christian authors who have bonded together to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

First prize is $100 cash and a $50 Walmart gift card, plus free books. Second place is $75 cash, plus a $25 Walmart gift card, and third place is $25 cash plus a John 3:16 Scripture poster and free books.

Youths 9 to 17 can participate as junior judges.

Submissions are open from June 1 to July 15. Download an invitation for youths athttp://www.facebook.com/l/UAQHK06e6AQEv_NHJ4zsdtvMH1pzGIHm1YL-SyZBHoLHGmQ/www.songsfromtheword.com/NewChristianBooks/invitation

I hope a lot of young people will unleash the writer within and share some great stories with us. What a wonderful opportunity for a garden of imagination to blossom like pyrotechnic stars.
