The Fifth Annual Pen to Paper Literary Symposium, sponsored by Pen of the Writer (www.PenoftheWriter.com), will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Dayton Urban League (www.DaytonUrbanLeague.org), 907 West Fifth Street. Sessions begin at 8:30 a.m.
Valerie L. Coleman, symposium coordinator says, "The Pen to Paper Literary Symposium, which began as a literary conference, has expanded into the entertainment industry. Our nationally acclaimed presenters provide a wealth of information on the art and business of book, song and film writing. Attendees gain insight from mainstream and independent authors and artists as well as editors, agents and an attorney." According to Coleman, "Attendees have traveled to Dayton from as far as Seattle, Washington to hone their craft."
Dr. Vivi Monroe Congress, best-selling author of two nonfiction books, opens the event by inspiring attendees to fulfill their dream with passion. Publicity coach, Pam Perry (www.MinistryMarketingSolutions.com), will share her expertise on powerful marketing techniques. Chicago attorney, Avalon Betts-Gaston, will delve into the legal aspects of arts and entertainment. Essence best-selling author, Kendra Norman-Bellamy (www.KNB-Publications.com), explains the crucial steps of publishing. Local presenters include Dr. Marva L.
